CERO (Cooperative Energy, Recycling, and Organics) is an award-winning, worker-owned cooperative that provides commercial compost pickup in Greater Boston. We transport food waste to local farms, supporting healthy soils and the local agricultural economy. Position Overview
The Business Operations Coordinator plays a key role in keeping CERO’s day-to-day business functions running smoothly. This role supports internal systems, facilitates communication across teams, and handles essential administrative tasks that enable our operations, sales, and management teams to focus on their areas of expertise. This is not a people management role but a critical support position requiring high organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve administrative systems to ensure secure and effective business operations
- Coordinate internal processes and track completion of operational tasks
- Support basic HR functions, including posting job openings and scheduling interviews
- Research grant and funding opportunities and organize application materials
- Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and documentation
- Coordinate calendars, meetings, events, and travel as needed
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams, external partners, and potential clients
- Monitor and flag opportunities for business improvement or risk
- Support internal reporting and tracking systems, including document organization
- Assist with proposal preparation and presentation materials
- Facilitate coordination between departments and support cross-team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Proficiency with office and collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Excel, etc.)
- Familiarity with basic HR or grant research processes is a plus
- Interest in sustainability, equity, and cooperative business models

Flexible work from home options available.
Compensation: $46,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

CERO provides food waste pickup and diversion services for a wide range of commercial clients in the metro Boston area, and transports organic waste to local farms where it's are recycled into rich soil products used to support the local agricultural economy. Our mission is simple: keep food waste out of landfills, save money for our clients, and provide good green jobs for Boston’s hard-working communities.
CERO was brought to life by a passionate group of black and brown people from Boston neighborhoods who believe the way to a more equitable, healthy society is through a worker-owned solidarity economy.
